This government has been far more intrusive regarding the imposition of hindi than the previous governement, hence the criticisms are well justified. I get it that they want to try and unify the country under a common language like they have in Japan and China, but we are bit too late for that,and secondly the linguistic diversity in India is way higher! Only South Africa comes close to us in terms of having more diversity in languages.

The only language that had a chance of unifying the country was Sanskrit and not hindi. Unfortunately we are 70 years too late, and there are several propaganda being run so as to discredit it's status as the pre-eminent language of the land.
