Railway authorities stated that these lands fall under the purview of the Mudasarlova reservoir and are designated for Municipal Water Works. GVMC Commissioner CM Saikanth Varma informed TOI that while it was labelled as municipal water works, it is not objectionable and is suitable for alienation. "We sent a letter to the Railways a month ago, expressing our readiness to provide the lands," he stated.

A senior railway official, speaking on condition of anonymity, mentioned that Railway Authorities have requested state government authorities to confirm the classification of the land allotted at Mudasarlova. The official emphasized the need to ascertain the classification and feasibility of the lands if the Railways were to establish headquarters on them.

These circumstances suggest a potential delay in laying the foundation stone for the new zone's headquarters complex. The railway authorities have already identified alternative land among their vacant lands close to the Railway Station, with the Wireless Colony being considered for the headquarters complex. సౌత్ కోస్ట్ రైల్వే జోన్ ను విశాఖపట్టణంలో ఏర్పాటు చేసేందుకు  డీపీఆర్, నిధులు కూడ సిద్దంగా ఉన్నట్టుగా కేంద్ర మంత్రి ఆశ్విని వైష్ణవ్ చెప్పారు. అయితే  రాష్ట్ర ప్రభుత్వం భూమిని తమకు కేటాయిస్తే  ఈ పనులు ప్రారంభిస్తామన్నారు. 

అయితే రైల్వేశాఖకు  నెల రోజుల క్రితమే ఈ విషయమై  లేఖ పంపినట్టుగా విశాఖపట్టణం కలెక్టర్  స్పష్టం చేశారు. ఈ విషయమై  రైల్వే శాఖ ఉన్నతాధికారులతో కూడ  ఫోన్ లో కూడ సంప్రదింపులు జరిపిన విషయాన్ని కూడ ఆయన ఆ ఇంటర్వ్యూలో గుర్తు చేశారు. 

ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్ర విభజన చట్టంలో  ఆంధ్రప్రదేశ్ రాష్ట్రానికి పలు సంస్థలు ఇస్తామని  అప్పటి యూపీఏ ప్రభుత్వం హామీ ఇచ్చింది. ఈ హామీల్లో భాగంగానే  విశాఖపట్టణంలో ప్రత్యేక రైల్వే జోన్ కూడ ఉంది.  అయితే  రాష్ట్ర విభజన జరిగిన పదేళ్లు జరుగుతున్న ఈ చట్టంలో పొందుపర్చిన అంశాలు ఇంకా  అమలు కాని పరిస్థితి నెలకొంది. ఈ రెండు రాష్ట్రాల మధ్య అపరిష్కృతంగా ఉన్న సమస్యల పరిష్కారం కోసం  కేంద్ర ప్రభుత్వం  అధికారులతో కమిటీని ఏర్పాటు చేసింది. రెండు రాష్ట్రాలకు చెందిన అధికారులతో ఈ కమిటీ తరచుగా సమావేశాలు నిర్వహిస్తుంది.

విజయవాడ రైల్వేస్టేషన్‌ ఆధునికీకరణ, రద్దీకి తగ్గట్టుగా ప్లాట్‌ఫాంల సంఖ్యను మరో రెండు మూడు పెంచాలనే ప్రతిపాదన ఎప్పటి నుంచో ఉంది. విజయవాడ సహా రెండు జిల్లాల్లో పలు ఆర్వోబీలు నిధుల కోసం ఎదురుచూస్తున్నాయి. విజయవాడ రైల్వేస్టేషన్‌కు అనుసంధానంగా శాటిలైట్‌ స్టేషన్ల అభివృద్ధి, కొత్త రైళ్ల ఏర్పాటు కొలిక్కి రాలేదు. స్టేషన్‌ నుంచి నిత్యం 250 రైళ్లు, లక్షన్నర మంది వరకు ప్రయాణికులు రాకపోకలు సాగిస్తున్నారు. రైళ్ల రద్దీకి పరిష్కారంగా విశాఖ వైపు నుంచి వచ్చే రైళ్లను కొన్ని రామవరప్పాడు, గుణదలలో ఆపేసి.. అక్కడి నుంచి రాయనపాడు మీదుగా హైదరాబాద్‌ వైపు మళ్లించాలనేది ప్రణాళిక. హైదరాబాద్‌ వైపు నుంచి వచ్చే రైళ్లను కొన్నింటిని రాయనపాడులో ఆపేసి.. అటునుంచి విజయవాడ స్టేషన్‌కు రాకుండా బయట నుంచే విశాఖ వైపు పంపించేస్తారు. కృష్ణా కెనాల్‌ స్టేషన్‌ను కూడా శాటిలైట్‌ స్టేషన్‌గా అభివృద్ధి చేయాలి. మౌలిక సౌకర్యాల ఏర్పాటు, రైళ్లను మళ్లించేందుకు అవసరమైన అభివృద్ధి చేపట్టాలి. ఇప్పటికే రాయనపాడు నుంచి ప్రయోగాత్మకంగా కొన్ని రైళ్లను ఆపుతున్నా.. పూర్తిగా లేదు. 2016లో కృష్ణా పుష్కరాలప్పుడు రూ.50 కోట్లతో ఈ శాటిలైట్‌ స్టేషన్లను ఆధునికీకరించాలని ప్రతిపాదించినా.. కొంతవరకే పనులు చేపట్టారు. వీటిని అందుబాటులోకి తేవడంలో విఫలమయ్యారు.వి విజయవాడ నుంచి దేశంలో అన్ని ప్రాంతాలకు ప్రయాణికుల రద్దీ అధికం.

విజయవాడ-నాగపట్నం మధ్య వేళంగిని ఎక్స్‌ప్రెస్‌ను నడపాలనే ప్రతిపాదన ఉంది. ఈ ప్రాంత క్రిస్టియన్‌ మైనార్టీలకు ఈ రైలు ఎంతో ప్రయోజనకరం.

ముంబయి, జైపూర్‌, బెంగళూరుకు కొత్త రైళ్లు కావాలి.
