Assam: RPF recover contraband goods worth over Rs. 16.21 crore during January-May

From January to May 2024, the RPF recovered contraband worth over Rs. 16.21 crore, apprehended 217 individuals for smuggling, and caught 119 touts, recovering tickets worth over Rs. 21.98 lakh. All apprehended individuals were prosecuted under the Railways Act. On June 13th, 2024, RPF and GRP apprehended two individuals on the Donyi Polo Express (train No. 15817 DN) at Guwahati railway station, recovering 89 gm of brown sugar worth Rs. 17.80 lakh. On June 9th, 2024, RPF and CIB conducted a raid at the Aluabari Road railway station, apprehending a tout and recovering 21 PRS tickets worth Rs. 55,223.
