The more accurate thing to say is that Indraprastha was located roughly in the same location as Delhi today. But the modern day Delhi is completely unrelated to the ancient Indraprastha or Hastinapur. The city was destroyed or abandoned multiple times in history, with many different rulers building and naming their own cities in roughly the same area. Indraprastha was also a pre-historic name and wasn't in use by an medieval rulers.
The modern day Delhi has been continuously in occupation since the 1200's.
