Considering the following distances:
(1) Pune-Nashik Aerial distance 159km (Pune-Nashik Road RS should be about 150 kms)
(2) Pune-Nashik Road distance 208 km (Pune-Nashik Road RS should be about 200 kms)
(3) Panvel-Kalyan-Nashik Road circuitous rail distance 270 km (with loco reversal, should not be issue with train sets/ emu type trains which are being manufactured presently)
(4)...
more... Pune-Panvel-Nashik Road circuitous rail distance 287 km
(5) Even Daund Manmad which is at farther end of the angle formed by two Rly lines emerging from Kalyan i.e. Kalyan-Bhusawal, Kalyan-Solapur is just 240 kms
-
The proposed Nashik-Pune new line distance 265KM is too long and almost equal to circuitous distance via Kalyan and paxs shall continue to travel by road which is just 200kms.
-
IF DD-MMR is just 240kms, the PUNE-NK distane should be any where between 170 to 200 kms. The alignment need to be reviewed to adopt shorter route with much shorter journey time (esp. as compared to road), so that the a big chunk of huge road traffic between Pune & Nashik road could be brought to environment friendly railway.
-
If a straighter route (about 180km for 150km aerial distance) is planned, Pune-MMR distance shall be just 250 km whereas present route is 315 KM with loco reversal at Daund. Many trains originating/passing from Pune and going to North, Central, East, & North-Eastern India, can use this route and save about 2 hours in journey time. It augurs well for IR inspiring to increase the average speed of express trains trains by 25kmph in long run. Such a line shall drastically improve the connectivity od Pune to a major part of our country, and can be considered as life line to the city of Pune.
