In the early and mid 90's, many superfast trains converted to normal mail/express trains as they were
1) Running at slower speeds than SFs were supposed to.
2) Were getting delayed all the time.
Many popular trains like Konark express, Netravati, TVC-GHY express were converted from SF status to normal express trains.

The Utran-Ankleshwar section was opened in 1860. The Tapti bridge was also completed by November of that year.
The only ferry crossing was at the Narmada near Bharuch. Even here, it was a only a temporary arrangement.

Trestle bridges were common on most rivers in that era. They were used as temporary arrangements to just start train traffic on the route, but once operations started, they were replaced with proper bridges.
It was the same case with both the Tapti and Narmada bridges. Even by the end of the 1860's, there were proper bridges constructed across them.
