Train no. 14526 (SGNR-UMB intercity express) has a pathetic time table and huge slack. Firstly, there are two crosses b/w SGNR and ABS. As a result, the train takes nearly 1.5 hours to reach ABS. Then it remains idle at BTI station for more than 1 hour. On a whole,. the average speed of this train enroute patiala is in the range of 40 Km/h. If NWR really desires to improve its efficacy, then they should start this train from SGNR at 14:50 hours instead of 13:35 hours as of today. I have been travelling on SGNR-UMB route for more than 20 years but there is hardly any speed increase in any of the express trains including this one. What is the fun in spending tax payers money on electrification and doubling, if the average speed of the train goes on decreasing every year, causing pain to the travellers.
