The investigating officer, Kamal Kumar Rai, contradicted the prosecution's claims and stated that he had no information about any mobile phones or call details related to the alleged extortion. The case was filed on March 11, 2015, at Bank More police station based on a complaint by the then Station House Officer, Ashok Kumar. Iqbal Khan, Amir Khan alias Rinku, Prince Khan, and Gopi Khan were named accused. It was alleged that on March 11, 2015, information was received that Amir Khan alias Rinku was using a mobile phone from jail to manage the railway contractor and threatened to kill him if he didn't cooperate. The investigation revealed that Prince Khan, Gopi Khan, and Iqbal Khan were demanding extortion through mobile phones from inside the jail, while Amir Khan alias Rinku was collecting the money outside. Amir Khan alias Rinku was arrested, and Iqbal Khan was already in jail. Prince Khan and Gopi Khan, who are absconding, are facing separate cases.
