I am in Bangalore, so can shed some more light on this.
It is clearly mentioned that it will benefit the employees. The cab fare from Airport to my place in Hebbal is good INR 850-1000 and for getting into the city in areas like Marathalli, Bellandur, Whitefield is around 1600 and to electronic city it is near to 2000 at times. The AC bus charges are in range of 300, 500 and 800 approximately for respective regions.
Now a traveller who uses airport once or twice a months this expense is ok,

but employees working at BIAL, its very very expensive and other than Cabs there is no medium for them to travel as airport is really situated good 30-35 km outside the city.
This will be a boon for daily travellers most of them being the employees to BIAL. I have seen asking for lifts when they walk by the road in late night which can be unsafe at times. Also, please note in next two years the T2 of BIAL will be ready which will increase the number of employees in BIAL.
Agree it is not as smooth transit as in Mumbai and Delhi but something is better than nothing. Peace :)

That depends on how quick we want to reach city, after taking luggage, catch shuttle to Airport station ~3kms(10-15 mins) and then from there train to city around 40 mins, approx 1 hr OR on other hand one single cab or BMTC AC bus to city with around 1.5 hrs, during less traffic hours. If more traffic is there, it takes even 3 hrs also.

Completely agree with you. But we should not forget about airport Toll. For that 2-3 kms buses might still charge you around 100-150
