It is becoming almost impossible for IR to curb the corrupt practices leading to direct or indirect financial bleeding of IR. One of our past RMs openly advised IR officials to stop taking their "cuts" which was very well circulated in media, but nothing has changed. Vigilance deptt is there in IR but still curruption is rampant. The best way out is to improve system of working/ practices in such a way that the scope of corruption is minimised.

online booking of tickets by giving some discounts and allowing "onward journey tickets". CRIS can directly handle the online sale of tickets. The Computerised reservation counters can then be reduced to bare minimum with following benefits:
(1) Cost of maintaining the PRS counters shall be minimised/ eliminated. The huge PRS buildings in metros can be commercially exploited to earn decent revenue.
(2) The huge cost of pay, perks and the pension of large number of employees involved in the PRS can be saved. The persons can be gainfully redeployed in other essential activities of IR.
(3) First 15 minutes of tatkal booking and opening of the advance reservation should be reserved for individuals booking berths from their online accounts with adhaar card of all the individual passengers booked. This shall promote the online booking, cashless transaction and adhaar based reservation which shall make the job of touts much difficult.
