There is a curious observation that ADI is no.7 city of India (~75 lac population), State Capital of vibrant state of Gujrat, fairly fast growing city, big commercial/ industrial centre and still have very few or no short distance intercity trains connections, even with major Gujrat cities, inspite of many strong possibilities. What is the reason- lack of traffic ? (unlikely)/ more efficient road connectivity/services ?? (likely) / or apathy of IRlys towards Gujrat over the decades (negligible investment done in Rly infrastructure)??? (likely) / preference of people for other modes of transport???? (maybe).
Large number of cities like Rajkot, Jamnagar, Dwarka, Junagadh, Somnath, Bhavnagar, GIM, Abu Rd., JU, Ajmer, JP etc may have day time intercity...
more... connections with ADI. Even cities like Patna/ LKO etc which are having much less than half the population of ADI are having much more intercity connections with the neighbouring cities.
Even 2 intercity trains Shetrunji Exp and its complementary train operating in MG has not been introduced on BG. (May be after ADI-Botad GC they will be introduced).
I give green flag ti this train because ADI probably deserves much more than this train.
